She bows her head in reverent prayer
Facing the icon standing there
On her knees she makes her plea
‘Please bring him safely back to me’
The same request she makes every trip
With tears in her eyes and quivering lip
Fear grips her soul for she surely knows
Only God’s grace controls the ocean’s flows
Whether her mood will be of rage or calm
She can only pray he be kept safe from harm
In her heart a peaceful serenity begins
He will hear her cry in faithfulness
Voicing her thanks in awe and grace
She counts her blessings and lifts her face
Smiling up at the Holy statue above
She looks upon the eyes full of love
